This is a gorgeous Large natural Quartz Ganesh Elephant Carving from Northern Thailand. The Ganesh was hand carved right into the natural stone. I was so happy to find this piece to offer it to someone knowing whoever gets this carving will love it. The stone has medium clarity.
Ganesh is know as the destroyer of obstacles and lord of beginnings.His emergence as a deity arose about the 4th century AD in India spanning into Nepal and Tibet and devotion became popular in both Hundu and Buddhist religions. One may wish to research further about the history and significance as well as devotional act and offerings, the practice of Puja from the home.
Condition: at the back of the bottom base there is a chip about 2 cm long. This is not that significant sine it is at the back bottom of the carving and not the Ganesh itself. Also the base and back at rough stone pieces anyway. Some natural inclusion lines running through the stone which are common in natural quartz.
